基本原理

激光打標是用激光束在各種不同的物質表面打上標記。打標的效應是通過表層物質的蒸發露出深層物質，或者是通過光能導致表層物質的化學物理變化而"刻"出痕跡，或者是通過光能燒掉部分物質，顯出所需刻蝕的圖案、文字。

目前，公認的原理是兩種：

"熱加工"具有較高能量密度的激光束（它是集中的能量流），照射在被加工材料表面上，材料表面吸收激光能量，在照射區域內產生熱激發過程，從而使材料表面（或涂層）溫度上升，產生變態、熔融、燒蝕、蒸發等現象。

"冷加工"具有很高負荷能量的（紫外）光子，能夠打斷材料（特別是有機材料）或周圍介質內的化學鍵，至使材料發生非熱過程破壞。這種冷加工在激光標記加工中具有特殊的意義，因為它不是熱燒蝕，而是不產生"熱損傷"副作用的、打斷化學鍵的冷剝離，因而對被加工表面的里層和附近區域不產生加熱或熱變形等作用。例如，電子工業中使用準分子激光器在基底材料上沉積化學物質薄膜，在半導體基片上開出狹窄的槽。
